I do believe candid makes for the best wedding photography. The best images are never the ones that are posed, even though they sometimes look posed! When you forget that the camera is around, and are truly being yourself, the best wedding photography happens.
But wait, did you say that you will teach us how to look best during our engagement session?
Yes, there are a few basics that you need to keep in mind during the shoot to take it to the next level! You can check out more of our work in our gallery.

That’s what engagement sessions are an excellent opportunity for! During this session, I will provide you with tips and tricks to get the best images that you can. After the session, you will see how you photograph together professionally and have a chance to give me feedback on what you like and don’t like. This way, I can personalize your wedding day experience for the best shoot possible!

Okay, fine, you got me! I do want you to look your best even if you are booking someone else or just want this for the perfect Instagram shot.
Always keep moving! If you are in an embrace, run your hand down the other person slowly. Those are the moments when everything looks perfect and natural! This will keep you from looking awkward, trying to hold the same position while your friend fumbles with the phone camera.
Speaking of moving your hands, make sure that your hands are soft and not in a claw-like death grip! Our eyes naturally will fall to the hands after a few moments of looking at a photo. Keep your hands nice and relaxed!
Keep the limbs that bend slightly bent! Being stiff as a board facing the camera makes for a great American Gothic “people-staring-at-you-from-the-tallgrass” look. (I am guilty of capturing it for some couples as it makes for a perfect “Conversation piece on a fridge” kinda photo)
While we are on the topic of not being stiff as a board, Keep your chin up and head slightly tilted. This one simple trick will make the images look even better!
The final tip is not always to look into each other’s eyes! Move your gaze to your partner’s lips, eyebrows, and chin. If you are making a movie-styled photo, don’t look out of the frame, keep your gaze on the floor within 6-8 feet of your partner for the extra style points!

This is pretty normal actually, but here are a few tips that can help to minimize this. Let’s start at the top!
To minimize the appearance of the double chin, push your chin forward. It feels strange but this stretch will make you appear thinner. This is a very common tip that you might have heard a number of times, however, a lot of people tend to also lift their chin up as well as push it forward. The correct way of doing this is to actually bring your chin a little down. If you start seeing creases in the neck, lift the chin back up a little. As a bonus tip, place your tongue behind the top teeth and press it against the roof of the mouth for an extra slimming effect! Try practicing in the mirror ahead of time so you know how it should feel to get the look you want.
Now to take care of the arms; a lot of people tend to hold their arms close to the body, and while this works very well for bodybuilders to make their appearance larger, this is something that we are trying to avoid. A simple way of taking care of this is by bending your arm a little at the elbow and placing your palm closer to your hip. This will make your arms less squished and appear significantly slimmer.
The last thing is to take care of your overall posture.
Make sure to stand up straight
Face the camera at about a 45-degree angle
Try to keep your weight on your back foot
That’s it! If you want to slim down a little bit while posing, these few tricks will help significantly.
